security - Accessing files on LAN from ASP.NET -


as mentioned in title. build mechanism allowing me access different files on lan , read metadata values. don't want change files, or create new ones. problem have web interface doing that, database allowing me store data files comparison.

2) if is, should start research?

1) possible, have tackle different security challenges, impersonation when accessing unc shares

2) suggest think overall design, if need instead of having example agents locally, on each machine, access files locally, on each machine , provide service based functionality repot file metadata, comparison etc
