html - Difference between "./images/pic.png" and "images/pic.png"? -

hello stumbled upon think has formality. have used refer files this:
<img src="images/cute_cat.png" /> however saw people using instead:
<img src="./images/cute_cat.png" /> my question if there's logical explanation or if it's formality thing use , don't.
./ means same directory.
../ means parent directory.
/ means first directory of domain.
in case, mean same thing.
